14785644_d4b5aea489_mResearch is very important to human kind.  With the proper studies, we would not know half of what we do today, and each bit of research leads the way to future discovery.  That being said, interviews are often a necessary component.  This is a wonderful opportunity to collect as much information as possible about the human aspect.  And, while there are many ways to record what is said in these sessions, in most cases, the best and most comfortable method is the use of audio transcription services.  In order to better understand, consider a few of the alternatives.

Note Taking There have been plenty of researchers in the past, and even presently, who have used the note taking method.  There are a few reasons why this is not the most effective approach.

1.    Loss Of Eye Contact And Engagement It is essential to build a bond with interviewers.  The more comfortable they feel with you, the more they are willing to share about themselves and their opinions. Note taking requires you to break eye contact frequently, and it can also mean missing out on meaningful moments in the conversation, as you try to think about what you are writing.

2.    The Memory is Only So Good Of course, you could avoid the loss of eye contact if you waited until after the interview is complete to take notes, but that means that you must rely heavily on memory.  It is easy to forget the little details, when you are trying so hard to remember the big points.

Video Recording and Self Transcription Of course you could simply record the session with a video camera and transcribe the material yourself, rather than hiring online transcription services.  However, video cameras tend to make people uncomfortable.  The average person will have added anxiety because of the camera’s presence and will worry more about appearance than about the topic at hand. Self-transcription is also challenging.  Not only is it time consuming, but you very likely don’t have the same tools as the professional transcriber.  Furthermore, it can be difficult to capture each word when accents and language differences stand in the way.

It’s affordable and entirely worthwhile to hire audio transcription experts.  Get the help, and get the results you wanted in the first place.
