Confidentiality

Each audio typist is required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement agreeing not to disclose client’s confidential information to third parties. The client is provided with a Confidentiality Agreement signed by the Proprietor of Fingertips.

Fingertips is registered with the Data Protection Act 1988 which means that we comply with guidelines in relation to keeping client’s information confidential. Our Registration Number is Z2142412.

Some clients work is of a sensitive/confidential nature and therefore they require confidence that their work will not be opened by anybody other than the recipient. Fingertips can encrypt your work and attachments in order that the recipient is the only person who can open it. A username and password is set up with the client and us. Our file transfer system encrypts information to ensure that it cannot be read during or after transmission.

Whilst a file is in transit, it passes through numerous servers where administrators and hackers can access it. Encryption eliminates this threat and guarantees safe transit and delivery. Your files are 256 bit SSL encrypted and HIPAA compliant.

A 256 bit SSL encryption is a technique that uses 256 bit key to encrypt and decrypt the data transferred between the client and the server. The most modern forms of algorithms and protocols, including SSL and AES, uses 256 bit encryption for generating private and public security keys.

The HIPAA Privacy Rule establishes national standards to protect individuals’ medical records and other individually identifiable health information (collectively defined as “protected health information”) and applies to health plans, health care clearinghouses, and those health care providers that conduct certain health care transactions electronically.

The Rule requires appropriate safeguards to protect the privacy of protected health information and sets limits and conditions on the uses and disclosures that may be made of such information without an individual’s authorization.

The Rule also gives individuals rights over their protected health information, including rights to examine and obtain a copy of their health records, to direct a covered entity to transmit to a third party an electronic copy of their protected health information in an electronic health record, and to request corrections.
