We can transcribe from DVDs. The most effective way to do this is to convert the DVD to an MP3 file, or other recognisable format, using our specialist software. This then becomes a voice file which we can transcribe. Time coding can be entered if required and a copy of the audio file sent to you upon request.

DVD transcription services are a popular choice as DVDs are a common storage device for films, music files, audio files and other video files. Professional interviews are commonly recorded then the footage burned onto the DVD which Fingertips can transcribe and send back to the client. Other examples are training manuals and training materials, negligence claims, inquests, tribunal hearings, meetings, police interviews and rushes. Fingertips have also received copy typing on DVD. Many PDF pages were burned onto the DVD and then required transcription by us.

Courier or post your DVD to us.  We will then convert the DVD to an MP3 file, transcribe the content and email it back to you.  We can post the DVD back to you when you are happy with the transcription.  If the DVD has burnt in time code on the video we can input this into the transcript.

DVD Transcription Service

There are a number of ways in which DVD transcription can be performed, but the most common, and the way in which Fingertips undertake the transcription is to transfer the DVD into a file type that is recognisable by our transcription software. We then can then use our footpedal and headset to transcribe the file the most efficient way as both are hands are free to type accurately at the transcribers maximum speed.

The most common form of transcript from DVD will be the intelligent verbatim option although we do offer alternatives.  We can use full verbatim whereby all the erms, ahs, repetitions etc are included.  Or if you need a more detailed transcription than that we can include tone, pitch and emotion which means even if somebody says something quietly this will be noted, or if they clear their throat, for example.

Transcripts are often more beneficial on paper rather than video for a number of reasons.  A student who has undertaken a research interview may find it easier to have a transcript of the conversation as important points can be easily located and highlighted and used for reference.  A training video can highlight important areas or areas that need to be concentrated on.  Also many people find learning from reading easier than listening to a video.

Whatever your DVD transcription request, Fingertips can assist and would be delighted to hear from you.

Please note if you have not requested that your DVDs be returned within 3 months then they will be recycled.
