As we bid farewell to a fantastic 2017 here at Fingertips Typing, we wanted to take the chance to look back at what has happened in the world this year.
2017 started with President Donald Trumps inauguration on January 20th defying his sceptics there has been no impeachment of this controversial character. This event did not go unprotested however, with 420 marches reported in the US and 168 in other countries.
There have unfortunately been some incredibly sad events that have taken place; the terrorist bombing attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring over 100. The Grenfell Tower fire on 14th June saw 71 people lose their life, 70 injured with hundreds of people losing their homes and belongings. Our thoughts are with the families of those killed and injured in these atrocities.
There has been monumental events happening over the world in 2017 including: Catalonia declaring independence from Spain and President Mugabe put under house arrest and later forced to resign his position in Zimbabwe.
It hasn’t all been sad and controversial news, both Germany and Australia have voted for the the legalisation of same-sex marriages and a new species of orangutang was found in Indonesia.
2017 has also been a year for Royal news, with the announcement that Kate and Will are expecting their third child, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. Then the big news the world had been waiting for, women across the country sobbed into their morning cuppas at the news that Harry and Meghan Markle are to tie the knot in 2018!
We couldn’t look back at 2017 without mourning the loss of some all time greats including; American rocker Tom Petty, Coronation Street star Liz a Dawn, Bond legend Sir Roger Moore and of course everyone’s favourite Saturday night entertainer Sir Bruce Forsyth.
We would like to thank all of our customers for their custom and wish you all a fantastic New Year, let’s make 2018 the best year ever!
Happy New Year
Love Cathy and The Team x
